IMEP • Paris College of Music organizes an exceptional two-days vocal workshop around the prestigious artists Kevin Mahogany, Martha High and Sylvain Bellegarde, accompanied by an outstanding rhythm section : pianist Franck Amsallem, bassist Peter Giron and drummer John Betsch.

Monday february 6 :

Tuesday february 7 :
1pm-4pm : Vocal workshop with Kevin Mahogany and rhythm section.
The participants of this vocal course will be singing accompanied by the rhythm section and will benefit from Kevin Mahogany’s individualized advice.
The teachers
With more than ten albums as a leader, baritone singer, businessman and teacher Kevin Mahogany has been a benchmark for Jazz singers for three decades.
Creator of trends, he is known for his collaboration as a sideman or guest artist with many jazz stars. He has recorded with TS Monk, The Ray Brown Trio, Marlena Shaw, Roseanna Vitro, Carl Allen, Barbara Morrison and Elvin Jones .
He is also an outstanding teacher at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and at the University of Miami. l’université de Miami.
Funky Diva Ms. Martha High is a breath of fresh air. She was spotted by James Brown and became her personal chorist for 32 years, a record! She has recorded albums on her behalf, such as ‘Sal Soul’, produced by James Brown in 1979. She has also collaborated with some of the greatest artists: Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Maceo Parker, Police, Roy Ayers, Sly & The Family Stone and many others …
When she is not on tour, she animates workshops and masterclasses, and participates in the development of promising singers.
The rhythm section
Franck Amsallem – piano
Pianist, composer and singer Franck Amsallem has recorded 8 CDs under his name, He spent twenty years in the United States and accompanied Gerry Mulligan, Charles Lloyd, Joshua Redman, Maria Schneider and Harry Belafonte.
In 1992 he won the 2nd prize at the Jacksonville “Great American Jazz Piano Competition”. It has since produced under its name in the biggest European festivals, in South America, Africa and Asia. He also worked as a composer for big band, string orchestra and chamber orchestra.
Peter Giron – double bass
Peter Giron studied at Westminster College (Princeton NJ). In New York City, he studied violin, viola, electric bass and double bass. Always very present on French and international stages, he works with many musicians in the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa (Charles Earland, John Purcell, Luther Allison, Kurt Elling, Dave Liebman, Rhoda Scott, Hal Singer, Kirk Lightsey, Sarah Morrow …). He currently teaches at the IMEP • Paris College of Music
John Betsch – drums
John Betsch began his career in 1963 in Nashville alongside organist Bob Holmes and trumpet player Louis Smith. From 1965 to 1967, he studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. In 1974, he performed at the Newport Jazz Festival alongside Max Roach. In 1975, he moved to New York, recording and performing with Jeanne Lee, Abbey Lincoln and Dewey Redman, Archie Shepp … John Betsch is a dry and precise drummer and his mastery of polyrhythmic Made one of Max Roach’s direct heirs.
