IMEP – Paris College of Music alumni Chloé Denis and Maxime Charray are the new drum teachers for the Junior Program and the Open Program!
Chloé Denis : Chloé Denis was trained at the conservatory of Aulnay-sous-Bois where she obtained her DEM in classical percussion in 2017, she studied drums with several teachers and then at the IMEP Paris College of Music from which she graduated in June 2019. She took up the souba and other brass instruments in 2017 as part of brass band workshops in New Orleans (association Villes des Musiques du Monde) which target various groups of young people/teenagers who have never played music. This project led her to perform in New Orleans in 2018, notably during the Jazz Fest. This multi-instrumentalist participates in several projects ranging from modern jazz to pop/rock or composition and drums within her band Eclipse which is part of the Parisian collective “Hira” launched in 2021.
Maxime Charray : Maxime Charray has been trained in classical drums and percussion at the CRD of Clamart since the age of 6, he obtains his DEM of jazz drums in 2019.In parallel, he trains in writing and composition as well as in the practice of jazz in small and large formations at the IMEP, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then perfected his theory at the CRR of Paris. He uses his knowledge in many jazz and contemporary music formations, notably the Koma trio with which he plays in the first part of Avisai Cohen and in the final of the Icart Session springboard at the Bataclan. He co-composes and plays on the 1st EP of the trio, We Jump, released in 2019. The group is part of the founders of the Parisian collective “Hira” launched in 2021.
