IMEP alumnus Ilan Elbaz, an undergraduate between 2015 and 2017, won this year’s Best Group Award and came second in the Composition Award of the Sunside trophies for his album Beyond The Door.

Recorded in October 2021, Beyond The Door, the first album of the young pianist-composer, proposes a music where listening, interplay and spontaneity are put at the service of compositions with an elegant and neat architecture.

Ilan’s compositions show a real talent for writing that makes him a source of inspiration for the musicians in his trio. His piano playing, characterised by a natural elegance of style, bears the mark of a classical culture (Frédéric Chopin, Maurice Ravel) and of the great jazz tradition.

He will be in concert on 25 October at the Studio de l’Ermitage with the entire studio team and on 1 December at the Sunset Sunside.
