A melting pot of cultures!

Katoum is a project created in 2021 by drummer Nouhem Charliac.
His initial idea was to blend cultures and the styles he particularly likes, as well as the traditional and the modern, to create a solar music that reflects his inspirations.

His love of Creole music led him to meet guitarist and singer Timothée, originally from Cape Verde, and saxophonist and keyboardist Lucas, who is passionate about Afro-inspired music. After a few line-up changes, they were joined by bassist Alexandra.

Katoum’s music is danceable and delicious, with powerful vocals often sung in Cape Verdean Portuguese Creole.

The themes addressed are those of métissage, history and the impact of creolisation, but also the simple things in life.
