Johan Asherton + 1st part Oak Echo
JOHAN ASHERTON: Considered by many to be the godfather of the French acoustic scene, Johan Asherton, born in Paris in 1958, recorded two albums with the Froggies before going solo in 1988. His debut album ‘God’s Clown’ is often featured in the ‘ideal record libraries’ of many magazines, and was re-released in 2017. ‘Precious’ featured guest appearances from Nikki Sudden (The Jacobites) and Dominique Laboubée (Dogs), while “The Night Forlorn” saw him surrounded by John Greaves (Henry Cow) and Pip Pyle (Gong, Hatfield And The North). Influenced by songwriting giants such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed, Asherton has released some twenty albums and performed on stages the world over. He is also the author of a biography of his childhood idol, Marc Bolan, as well as several collections of poems. His new album, Matinee Idols, has just been released by SMAP Records. OAK ECHO: Formed in autumn 2023, Oak Echo are an acoustic neo-folk duo fusing the sounds of Paul Gasq on guitar with Mohini’s haunting vocals. Influenced by the 60s and 70s, the two musicians have taken on the world of contemporary American folk with talent, infusing it with the creativity of their own compositions. Oak Echo combines the contemporary influences of Paul, a graduate of the IMEP Paris College of Music, with the more traditional influences of Mohini, whose artistic career includes the creation of several musical projects such as Mando and Inn Saë, which have played at the New Morning and the Bus Palladium in Paris. She has also collaborated with renowned artists such as Johan Asherton and Xavier Jamaux, a former member of the group Air. Paul’s more intimate lyrics, drawn from personal stories, are complemented by Mohini’s more abstract lyrics, exploring the various dimensions of the human experience. Online ticket sales
