Brumes at the Pavillon de la Sirène

After a first outdoor dance last July, the Pavillon is hosting Brumes’ first concert as part of its residency. At the confluence of jazz and traditional French music, Brumes invites you to travel to the frontier of the imaginations specific to these aesthetics. From the foothills of the Massif Central, via fictitious territories, an original repertoire unfolds, with the melodies that still resonate in the centre of France as its focal point. Music for dancing, these themes evoke the scottishes, mazurkas and bourrées danced by the ancients. The double bass, drums, flute and saxophones are united in the same search for rhythm, which is as characteristic of improvised music as it is of dance, and they combine collected material and Antonin Pauquet’s own compositions in a single creative breath, creating a relentless pulse. This unique sound space exudes an intense sense of vitality and freedom. With respect and imagination, this acoustic quintet draws its inspiration from the music of John Zorn, Dave Holland and Jacky Molard. With Benoît Andrieux: Tenor, Soprano saxophone, Fabien Magnin: Soprano saxophone, Christelle Raquillet: Flute, Antonin Pauquet: Double bass, composition, Sacha Souêtre: Drums

This project is a finalist in Jazz Migration #10
