Baptiste Herbin Trio Ft André Ceccarelli at the Sunset
For this new album, Baptiste Herbin called on an artistic director for the first time, finding in Daniel Yvinec an enlightened and stimulating interlocutor who, after hearing him play a Django theme during a jam session, suggested the subject of this album. Together, they put together a repertoire that creates a fascinating universe around the guitarist: some of his emblematic compositions skilfully reworked, intoxicating musette waltzes, plus a choro dedicated to him by Herbin, a moving tribute by pianist John Lewis, and a stunning re-reading of ‘Night and Day’ in which Baptiste takes Django’s original solo harmonised for two saxophones with an elegance and naturalness that confirm the validity of the undertaking.
