Academy of Composition 2025

From 20 February to 1 March 2025, the Académie de Composition will take place at the Pavillon de la Sirène in Paris. This 2025 edition is organised by Real Time Music in collaboration with the Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ). IMEP is a co-partner of the event.

This intensive programme is aimed at eight selected composers, who will have the opportunity to develop their creations for large ensemble and combo under the guidance of renowned professionals.

Each of the pieces composed is performed at the end of the course by the Orchestre des Jeunes de l’ONJ, in a public performance.

 

Free masterclasses

Public masterclasses on the theme of composition will be held from 21 to 26 February, giving everyone a chance to discover the creative processes of the guest artists.

– Pascale Criton, composer and musician

A jazz weekend with workshops, concerts and conferences open to all

– Introduction to conducting, by Léo Margue
– Composing in Workshop, through and for improvisation, by Paul Wacrenier
– Lecture ‘The Music of Avishai Cohen’, by jazz students from Paris conservatoires and Stéphane Audard
– Carte Blanche concert with Real Time Music

Concerts not to be missed

Finally, there will be two concerts to round off the academy: the first is a concert by the Orchestre des jeunes de l’ONJ on 28 February.

Finally, on 1 March there will be a concert to mark the end of the creative process, at which the works composed by the eight trainees at the Composition Academy will be presented to the public and played by the Orchestre des Jeunes de l’ONJ.
